Little Secrets 1

Men don't know what great lengths women go through to look "well put". Men know nothing about the eyebrow threading, mustache bleaching, the Brazilian/Leg/underarm waxing, hair rebonding/perming etc. All these secrets, if not at all,  are talked about in hush hush tones only with the girlfriends. I am writing this entry to let the women out there know that you are not alone. We, ladies, have our little beauty secrets and that's ok. We need to keep a little mystery for our guys. I want to provide information to the ladies who are too shy to ask their girlfriends. :)

In this entry, i am going to talk about Bras. Yes, those little things that cup your breasts, and no, i'm not talking about your guy's hands. Just yesterday, a friend of mine asked me to accompany her to go bra shopping. She said it's been a big problem finding the right kind of bra for her size. She said she always ends up with a cup runneth over malfunction. According to an article on Time.com, "If Your Bra Doesn't Fit, Go Shopping," up to 85 percent of women are wearing the wrong bra size. That means if you're a woman who wears a bra, you're most likely one of the boob offenders, treating your breasts badly by squeezing them into too-small cups or letting them swing haphazardly due to lack of support.

1. Measure your band size. Use  a  soft measuring tape around your rib cage, just right below your bust. Be sure to measure in inches.
If your measurement is even, add four inches to this number to get your band size; if your measurement is odd, add 5 inches to this number to get your band size.
ex. If you measure 29 inches, then your band size is 34.
2. Measure your cup size. Measure the fullest area of your bust using the same tape measure. Take the difference of the measurement  of your cup size to your band size. This difference will be the basis for your cup size. Each inch of difference is equal to one cup size. Using the example above, if you measured 33 inches for the cup size. 34 - 33 = 1. Therefore, you're an A cup.

Isn't it simple? If you're still unsure about your cup size. The ladies from La Senza, for one, will help you find the right bra size for you.

Some more helpful tips:
* when trying out a bra, clasp it at its loosest fitting. As bras tend to get looser as times go on due to washing and wearing.
* do the underwires or the edges of the cups dig in to your breasts? If your breasts are bulging out of the sides or over the top of the cups, then you need a bigger cup size.
* a good bra is an investment, and it comes with a price. Buy the basics first, like a nude or black strapless bra and/or a t-shirt bra.
* never put your bras in the washing machine, for christ's sake! It's murder. Not only will you destroy its elasticity but you also ruin the pads of your pricey item. Bras need handwashing with a soft detergent.

Here's my recent purchase from Forever21. I've always loved lace without the padding. You can use it with a loose top, it gives a little hint of sexy :)

Below are some lace bras from UrbanOutfitters. I die.

I hope this entry shed some enlightenment to the ladies out there. I will write more Lady Secrets in the future. I'll keep you posted!

My first outfit post

This is my very first outfit post. I know this doesn't count as a misadventure but what the heck, right? I own the blog.

I got this as a present from my cousin who got in last night from Berlin. It's a cute H&M dress with floral detail. The belt's from Ralph Lauren. Not that you'd care but my watch is from Polo Racquet Club, and i'm wearing a Charriol Bangle. Hah! (That's how fashion bloggers do it, right?) :)

I also scored this cute brown suede belt from Rustans for cheaps! It's from Cignal. Kind of reminds me of an Hermes Belt, but not quite. I got it for P395 only. woot!

I'll try to post more in the future.

Santa came early in the form of my boyfriend's Mom

3g's worth of GC
A few weeks ago, Diego's mom gave me SSI gift certificates worth Php3000. I was ecstatic and thankful for it. She gave me the GC's s because she said they rarely have the time to go to the mall, and the tickets were only valid until Dec. 17, 2010. She didn't want it to go to waste. I was more than happy to take the "burden" out of her hands. I had an early Christmas gift! I went through all SSI's brand indexes in mind. Now, if only i can figure out what to get. :)

Initially, i wanted to get the Tory Burch jelly ballet flats in black. I called the store, found out that only white is available. So had my size(8) reserved. I went the next day,  i went to the store and tried on the shoes. Much to my surprise, the size 8 was too big on me. I was always a size 8. It was just weird that i'm a size smaller in Tory Burch. I felt a bit of pressure because of the time constraint. Must.Get.Something.Before.The.17th!

Gap Wide Leg Jeans and Gap Skinny Jeans
I had to come up with a plan B... MAC Cosmetics? Lush products? Kate Spade bag? I really didn't want to shell out extra cash because i really don't have anything to shell out. So i had to play within the budget. I checked out Gap's online store, and saw a cute pair of wide leg jeans. They were to die for. I asked my friend/stylist Via, for her opinion. With a little prep talk from her, i was more convinced to get the pair.

I went to the store this afternoon and asked if they had the wide leg jeans that i wanted. But NOOOOooo, they didn't have it yet. Was i about to run out of luck? I wasn't gonna leave the mall without getting anything. I was more than determined to get something just for the sake of getting it over with. Just when i was about to lose hope, i saw a lovely pair of skinnies from Gap. I tried on a few for size, and was torn between 25/r and 26/2r. I ended up getting 26/2r. I'm happy! Thanks to Diego's mom (Tita Marie)! Have a very Merry Christmas guys!

Customized Shoes!

Have you ever that feeling when you saw someone in pair of nice ballet flats and didn't have the courage to ask her where she got it? or Did you ever hope that you could find a pair of shoes that screams "YOU"? How you love every detail, color, and design? Did you ever wish that you could say that you, yourself, designed those lovely pair of heels?
Well now you can! I recently found out about shoes of prey while i was just blog hopping. One of the usual things i do because i have lots and lots of free time.
I've always wanted a pair of cheetah print ballet flats but i can't seem to find a nice pair. When i came across Shoes of Prey, you could just imagine how ecstatic i got.
This is the perfect gift for your mom/girlfriends this Christmas.
It usually takes 2-4 days for them to ship the shoes. I dunno about you, but i'm starting to design my pair now :)

A lil makeover

I had a very productive weekend with friends. Angeline was attending her friends' wedding (a guy Carla and i used to date  on separate occassions of course haha), and i got this crazy idea of giving her a complete makeover. I suggested that we change her hair color, and Carla was gonna do her make-up. Angeline wanted to get bangs, so i brought my hair clippers with me.

Saturday came and we all met up to buy Angeline's hair color at the grocery, then we dropped by NailXperts salon to book us some at-home-nail-service. We all got giddy with their Orly nail polish collection. I wish i took a picture. Angeline had her nails painted in Orly's Matte Gold, Carla had Green with Envy, and i had Country Club Khaki which looks very similar to Chanel's Particuliere.

I dyed Angeline's hair, while the manicurists(?) did her and Carla's nails. Since we bought the DIY hair color, it didn't come with a brush. I had to use a toothbrush to cover the baby hair, side burns and eye brows. It worked like a charm.

After the hair coloring and manis and pedis, I cut Angeline's bangs with my trusty scissors. I gave her full bangs, and i used my flat iron to style it. I loved the turn out of the hair color on Moya's (Angeline's nickname) skin tone.

Here's Carla doing Angeline's make-up. Angeline wore a purple dress, so pretty much the make-up had to work with the outfit. Carla used purple and lilac colors on Moya, creating a smokey eye look. She also did her brows using Mac's brows set (I suggest you girls get it). And Mac's Pink Noveau. I loved how it looked on Moya. I can never pull off that color. :)

Angeline also wore a pair of lace pumps, which she bought for a steal (P1100 only).

Here's Angeline ready for the wedding. I loved how it all turned out.

What girls must know

This is my weapon of choice :P

Dyeing does not have to be overwhelming or difficult, as long as we follow directions indicated on the box.
In the Philippines, there are a limited array of dyeing products for your brows. Actually, i haven't seen one, or unless you go to a salon(?). Then, the best option we have is facial hair creme bleaching. Plus, i'm a cheapskate and prefer DIY because it saves me money, and i can use it again for regrowth.

Read the instructions on the box carefully. It requires you to do the test patch just to check if you have an allergic reaction to the bleach. You have to wait 24 hours for the test to work. Unless you want to risk getting rashes or burns on your skin. I suggest you take the patch test.
like me?
Now ladies, i cannot stress enough how important it is for us to do this. If you've had your hair colored to a lighter shade, please don't forget to lighten the shade of your brows as well. Forgetting to do so would make you look like that lady.

Another thing we must not forget is that peach fuzz we have just right above our lips. Nobody finds a female mustache sexy. And i mean no one. You can also use the Sally Hansen facial creme bleach, and leave it on longer than you would on your brows since you want the "stache" to be lighter/almost invisible.

Bleaching is something you should be doing if you know how. It is always wise to take the safe route and to visit your local beauty salon, but when that is not an option or you want to do it on your own, always purchase safe products and use them as directed. You can have beautiful eyebrows to match your hair color and a mustache free face!

They're here! They're here!

I received a notice yesterday afternoon that i have a package waiting for me at the Post Office.
I had a feeling that it had something to do with the boots i won from Chictopia. It was the only package i was expecting. I knew it just had to be it.
I purposely dressed drab in a baggy shirt and a pair of leggings (there's a reason behind that) hurriedly went to the Post Office today with my mom. Now, the thing with Post Offices is that we all have to pay the taxes, plus other shit i don't remember. So i knew i had to pay for something. When we got there, a man was in line before me. I noticed the old lady behind the counter who seemed like she didn't like her  job (maybe because she was underpaid, or she's stuck in a crappy office, or maybe she just had a bad day...for 12 years. )

She was rude. She threw the paper and pen for the man to sign. I took a deep breath and waited in line. Then came my turn. I smiled my sweetest smile at this old lady and handed her my PO notice. She smiled back and said i had a pretty tan. Smiled quickly turned into a frown when this girl behind me cut in and gave her PO notice. Old lady was back to her rude self again. Boy, that was short.

The old lady left, and came back with my package. It was a huge box. She opened it, and out came my boots! My lovely boots, in their own bags. Old lady called in the Customs lady to inspect the items and check how much it would cost me for the taxes, etc. So here comes my reason as to why i dressed drab today. Actually, it was more of a strategy. I figured that if i looked like i didn't have money, or look like i can't afford to pay thousands of Pesos, then they'd cut me some slack and not give me a hard time. Let me tell you. It worked.

Customs lady said she would have to keep the boots because the sender(Chictopia) didn't declare how much they cost. Customs lady left to attend to her phone. Old lady talked to me and my mom  in a hush-hush tone and said that if we agree to pay a certain amount, i can take home the boots. Tsk tsk tsk. But i gave in, because if i didn't i would have to pay a far more bigger amount than what Old Lady suggested. I guess that money went straight to the Customs lady's pocket since we weren't issued a receipt.

Oh well, i'm still happy cuz i have my boots! Thanks Chictopia!!!

No longer a virgin...

of Araneta Coliseum.
Last night, a bunch of us watched Gin Blossoms live.

we got the cheapest ticket
My friends said we didn't need to buy the expensive tickets since
we were there to listen to their music, and we didn't need to see their "old" faces.
My night at the concert ended early cuz i only know 3 of their songs.
Hahahaha. That sucked a bit,
Me and Predo, another virgin.
that's how far we were

After the concert, we headed to Jay-J's for a drink.
Angeline was raving about the resto's Crispy Dinuguan.
Now i don't eat Dinuguan mainly because it's a soup
with all sorts of innards swimming in pig's blood.
Yes, pig's blood.
that black thing is pig's blood :s
It is a delicacy here in the Philippines, but i'm not a fan.
But, to be a sport, i tried it since Angeline said it was REALLY good.
And it was. It didn't even taste like blood.
It had hints of "icky" but the taste was over powered by the crunchy pig skin.
It didn't have any innards, so yay!

I would definitely eat it again.

It finally happened...

my friends and i were able to go thrift shopping
FINAL-FUCKING-LY!
:)
We all met up at this mall in Cubao,
and road a train to Anonas (which was the next stop).
The train was clean and nice compared to the other trains in the metro.

Carly and Angeline with their e-tickets
The first shop we went to was a bit too overwhelming.
Too many racks, too much stuff.
I'm glad we decided to check out the area cuz we found this other shop.
I can say it's the best shop to start thrift shopping for newbies.
It was still tiring :)
After thrift shopping, we grabbed a bite to eat at The Burger Project.
Where you can customize your burger, anyway way you want it.
read more about the review of The Burger Project here.
my "project" which i named BURGRRRR..
here come the burgers

I personally loved The Burger Project.
They had tasty patties, nice texture of the buns, and great tasting fries.
But, a bit pricey for a burger.
We're going back, but not anytime soon.
we need to save :)

The Halloween party that was...

Every year, my friends and i try to go to the Halloween Party
at the bar where i used to work.
I can say that this year, the party wasn't the same as before.
It used to be lots of fun.
Now, it was blah.
It saddens me, because this was something we always looked forward to.
Maybe we grew out of it, maybe because the "fun" people weren't there anymore, or
maybe because the young people were annoying (hahaha).

I'm almost done with my German Language classes. Final exam is on Monday.
Wish me luck!!

Can't believe it...

i actually won an online contest!
This is a first.
I never bothered/believed things like online contests
until my friend Carla won a bag from TheBagHag.
So maybe, just maybe i could win something.

And so i tried out this online contest on Chictopia's Facebook account.
I had to get people to like my comment in order to win.
And what's the prize? A pair of Jeffrey Campbell boots!

I was so happy to read this message this morning!

I hope they'll ship the boots. If not, i'm gonna have to ask my relatives to pick it up.

Happy happy joy joy!

I've been lusting on..

a Mulberry bag from Target for some time now.
What i like about the bag, aside from it's hot pink leopard print, is that
it doesn't cost an arm and a leg to own one.
(I also like the black leather satchel)
But to my dismay, there are no Target stores in the Philippines.

So i was glad to find out that you can actually win one online!
Perfectly Polished Nails is giving away one Mulberry for Target bag.
How?
Click on the link below.

It rained today...

so, my thrift shopping challenge with my friend's Carla and Rav didn't happen.
A typhoon is expected to hit landfall tomorrow morning.

Anyway, last Friday i went to the mall and saw this cute pair of
sandals at Php599 ($13).

I love the colorful beadwork.
It's surprisingly comfy for something this cheap!
I'm planning to wear this to school next week with my maxi dress.

Thrift shopping will be rescheduled, but i'll definitely write about it.
Tschüs!

I am excited..

This Sunday, I'm going to Anonas(?) with my friend Carla
Anonas, from what i've heard is best known for Ukay-ukay/Thrift Shopping.
I've never been to any ukay-ukay store, so this is going to be a first.
We also came up with a challenge where we must create a whole new look/outfit
for Php 500 (roughly $11) only.
We'll see how this goes, and i'm gonna blog about it.

I'm really excited!
Tshüs!
