Little Secrets 1

Men don't know what great lengths women go through to look "well put". Men know nothing about the eyebrow threading, mustache bleaching, the Brazilian/Leg/underarm waxing, hair rebonding/perming etc. All these secrets, if not at all,  are talked about in hush hush tones only with the girlfriends. I am writing this entry to let the women out there know that you are not alone. We, ladies, have our little beauty secrets and that's ok. We need to keep a little mystery for our guys. I want to provide information to the ladies who are too shy to ask their girlfriends. :)

In this entry, i am going to talk about Bras. Yes, those little things that cup your breasts, and no, i'm not talking about your guy's hands. Just yesterday, a friend of mine asked me to accompany her to go bra shopping. She said it's been a big problem finding the right kind of bra for her size. She said she always ends up with a cup runneth over malfunction. According to an article on Time.com, "If Your Bra Doesn't Fit, Go Shopping," up to 85 percent of women are wearing the wrong bra size. That means if you're a woman who wears a bra, you're most likely one of the boob offenders, treating your breasts badly by squeezing them into too-small cups or letting them swing haphazardly due to lack of support.

1. Measure your band size. Use  a  soft measuring tape around your rib cage, just right below your bust. Be sure to measure in inches.
If your measurement is even, add four inches to this number to get your band size; if your measurement is odd, add 5 inches to this number to get your band size.
ex. If you measure 29 inches, then your band size is 34.
2. Measure your cup size. Measure the fullest area of your bust using the same tape measure. Take the difference of the measurement  of your cup size to your band size. This difference will be the basis for your cup size. Each inch of difference is equal to one cup size. Using the example above, if you measured 33 inches for the cup size. 34 - 33 = 1. Therefore, you're an A cup.

Isn't it simple? If you're still unsure about your cup size. The ladies from La Senza, for one, will help you find the right bra size for you.

Some more helpful tips:
* when trying out a bra, clasp it at its loosest fitting. As bras tend to get looser as times go on due to washing and wearing.
* do the underwires or the edges of the cups dig in to your breasts? If your breasts are bulging out of the sides or over the top of the cups, then you need a bigger cup size.
* a good bra is an investment, and it comes with a price. Buy the basics first, like a nude or black strapless bra and/or a t-shirt bra.
* never put your bras in the washing machine, for christ's sake! It's murder. Not only will you destroy its elasticity but you also ruin the pads of your pricey item. Bras need handwashing with a soft detergent.

Here's my recent purchase from Forever21. I've always loved lace without the padding. You can use it with a loose top, it gives a little hint of sexy :)

Below are some lace bras from UrbanOutfitters. I die.

I hope this entry shed some enlightenment to the ladies out there. I will write more Lady Secrets in the future. I'll keep you posted!

My first outfit post

This is my very first outfit post. I know this doesn't count as a misadventure but what the heck, right? I own the blog.

I got this as a present from my cousin who got in last night from Berlin. It's a cute H&M dress with floral detail. The belt's from Ralph Lauren. Not that you'd care but my watch is from Polo Racquet Club, and i'm wearing a Charriol Bangle. Hah! (That's how fashion bloggers do it, right?) :)

I also scored this cute brown suede belt from Rustans for cheaps! It's from Cignal. Kind of reminds me of an Hermes Belt, but not quite. I got it for P395 only. woot!

I'll try to post more in the future.

Santa came early in the form of my boyfriend's Mom

3g's worth of GC
A few weeks ago, Diego's mom gave me SSI gift certificates worth Php3000. I was ecstatic and thankful for it. She gave me the GC's s because she said they rarely have the time to go to the mall, and the tickets were only valid until Dec. 17, 2010. She didn't want it to go to waste. I was more than happy to take the "burden" out of her hands. I had an early Christmas gift! I went through all SSI's brand indexes in mind. Now, if only i can figure out what to get. :)

Initially, i wanted to get the Tory Burch jelly ballet flats in black. I called the store, found out that only white is available. So had my size(8) reserved. I went the next day,  i went to the store and tried on the shoes. Much to my surprise, the size 8 was too big on me. I was always a size 8. It was just weird that i'm a size smaller in Tory Burch. I felt a bit of pressure because of the time constraint. Must.Get.Something.Before.The.17th!

Gap Wide Leg Jeans and Gap Skinny Jeans
I had to come up with a plan B... MAC Cosmetics? Lush products? Kate Spade bag? I really didn't want to shell out extra cash because i really don't have anything to shell out. So i had to play within the budget. I checked out Gap's online store, and saw a cute pair of wide leg jeans. They were to die for. I asked my friend/stylist Via, for her opinion. With a little prep talk from her, i was more convinced to get the pair.

I went to the store this afternoon and asked if they had the wide leg jeans that i wanted. But NOOOOooo, they didn't have it yet. Was i about to run out of luck? I wasn't gonna leave the mall without getting anything. I was more than determined to get something just for the sake of getting it over with. Just when i was about to lose hope, i saw a lovely pair of skinnies from Gap. I tried on a few for size, and was torn between 25/r and 26/2r. I ended up getting 26/2r. I'm happy! Thanks to Diego's mom (Tita Marie)! Have a very Merry Christmas guys!

Customized Shoes!

Have you ever that feeling when you saw someone in pair of nice ballet flats and didn't have the courage to ask her where she got it? or Did you ever hope that you could find a pair of shoes that screams "YOU"? How you love every detail, color, and design? Did you ever wish that you could say that you, yourself, designed those lovely pair of heels?
Well now you can! I recently found out about shoes of prey while i was just blog hopping. One of the usual things i do because i have lots and lots of free time.
I've always wanted a pair of cheetah print ballet flats but i can't seem to find a nice pair. When i came across Shoes of Prey, you could just imagine how ecstatic i got.
This is the perfect gift for your mom/girlfriends this Christmas.
It usually takes 2-4 days for them to ship the shoes. I dunno about you, but i'm starting to design my pair now :)

A lil makeover

I had a very productive weekend with friends. Angeline was attending her friends' wedding (a guy Carla and i used to date  on separate occassions of course haha), and i got this crazy idea of giving her a complete makeover. I suggested that we change her hair color, and Carla was gonna do her make-up. Angeline wanted to get bangs, so i brought my hair clippers with me.

Saturday came and we all met up to buy Angeline's hair color at the grocery, then we dropped by NailXperts salon to book us some at-home-nail-service. We all got giddy with their Orly nail polish collection. I wish i took a picture. Angeline had her nails painted in Orly's Matte Gold, Carla had Green with Envy, and i had Country Club Khaki which looks very similar to Chanel's Particuliere.

I dyed Angeline's hair, while the manicurists(?) did her and Carla's nails. Since we bought the DIY hair color, it didn't come with a brush. I had to use a toothbrush to cover the baby hair, side burns and eye brows. It worked like a charm.

After the hair coloring and manis and pedis, I cut Angeline's bangs with my trusty scissors. I gave her full bangs, and i used my flat iron to style it. I loved the turn out of the hair color on Moya's (Angeline's nickname) skin tone.

Here's Carla doing Angeline's make-up. Angeline wore a purple dress, so pretty much the make-up had to work with the outfit. Carla used purple and lilac colors on Moya, creating a smokey eye look. She also did her brows using Mac's brows set (I suggest you girls get it). And Mac's Pink Noveau. I loved how it looked on Moya. I can never pull off that color. :)

Angeline also wore a pair of lace pumps, which she bought for a steal (P1100 only).

Here's Angeline ready for the wedding. I loved how it all turned out.

What girls must know

This is my weapon of choice :P

Dyeing does not have to be overwhelming or difficult, as long as we follow directions indicated on the box.
In the Philippines, there are a limited array of dyeing products for your brows. Actually, i haven't seen one, or unless you go to a salon(?). Then, the best option we have is facial hair creme bleaching. Plus, i'm a cheapskate and prefer DIY because it saves me money, and i can use it again for regrowth.

Read the instructions on the box carefully. It requires you to do the test patch just to check if you have an allergic reaction to the bleach. You have to wait 24 hours for the test to work. Unless you want to risk getting rashes or burns on your skin. I suggest you take the patch test.
like me?
Now ladies, i cannot stress enough how important it is for us to do this. If you've had your hair colored to a lighter shade, please don't forget to lighten the shade of your brows as well. Forgetting to do so would make you look like that lady.

Another thing we must not forget is that peach fuzz we have just right above our lips. Nobody finds a female mustache sexy. And i mean no one. You can also use the Sally Hansen facial creme bleach, and leave it on longer than you would on your brows since you want the "stache" to be lighter/almost invisible.

Bleaching is something you should be doing if you know how. It is always wise to take the safe route and to visit your local beauty salon, but when that is not an option or you want to do it on your own, always purchase safe products and use them as directed. You can have beautiful eyebrows to match your hair color and a mustache free face!
