Today i rode a jeepney

Actually two jeepneys.
It took me two jeepney rides and a quick 5 min. walk to get to my school.
Now, if you know me, you'd know that I never take the jeepney in Manila.
I avoid it at all costs and I don't ride it alone.
There were a couple of times i took it,
but i was always in the company of my friends or guy cousins.
Sometimes they'd tell me that we'll take the jeepney just cuz it's cheaper and faster,
and i'd give them the pity face so we wouldn't have to.
If that didn't work, i'd offer to pay for the cab fare.
Or if we're lucky we'd have my cousin's driver drop us off the mall or wherever.

The jeepney was never an option in commuting.
Commuting meant taking the cab.
But before you go about judging and thinking "what a stuck up"
plus the fact that it gets hot and sticky and all the smoke and dust go directly to your face.
germs/bacteria. 'nuff said.

Anyway, back to the jeepney ride.
I clutched my bag and books, put on my serious face (eyebrows crossed, eyes squinted) and purposely walked a lil weird so no one would dare mess with me..
But I did it. BY MYSELF.
No cousins. No Mommy/Daddy. No friends. Just me.

And i'm a little proud to say that i braved a day taking this public transportation.
I might just do it again. I just hope i don't get lost.

First day of classes

I got to class 30 minutes early, and got to know the other "students". Most All of my classmates were there to take the lessons for their fiancé visas. So, it wasn't anything like the University i came from.
In fact it was far from it, in terms of the students. I liked them because they were nice and not pretentious.

First day of class was..well..quite the turnout. We had a quick tour of the library.
That's Christopher, the librarian/tutor in blue

We went back up to our classroom and started with our lessons.
I learned about the German Buschtabe(alphabet), Begrüßung(greetings), etc.

Wie ist Ihr name? Mein Name ist ______.
What is your name? My name is _____.
Wie heißen Sie? Ich heiße _____.
How are you called? My name is _____.
Wer sind Sei? Ich bin _____.
Who are you? I am _____.

Wer ist das? Das ist _____.
Who is that? That is _____.
Wer sind das? Das sind ____ und ____.
Who are they? These are ____ and ____.

I didn't expect class to be this much fun and easy. Easy maybe 'cause we're just learning the basics now. I'll bite my tongue now. It's too soon for me to say "easy".

This is the entrance to my school (Goethe-Institut Manila)

My class ended at 12 and i had lunch with my former officemates at the resto right near the entrance to my school. I love seeing these girls!

Sorry i don't have photos in class. Cellphones are not allowed inside. I'll try to take pics tomorrow during the 30 minute break.
Shiiiit! I'm excited for tomorrow's lessons!!

I had a long chat with my friend, Via, who is in Florida at the moment. She told me that she wished she lived in Chicago instead so she could dress up. While i on the other hand somehow wished i'd study/live in Cali where the beaches are near. We went on talking about how I'm the girl from THE HILLS and she's the one living in THE CITY.

The whole conversation got us re-thinking(?).
We(yes, including me) both loved living in the city mainly because we'd get to dress up in "city" clothes (blazers, pants, high heels, fancy dresses) and there are malls. And malls = shopping.
But we also love getting our tan, slapping on some tanning oil, and wearing our tiny bikinis while sipping on some cocktail named after something profane. Hahaha.

My situation's gonna be tough, i tell ya, once i leave. Have you ever had that feeling?

Why blog?

Let me tell you why this blog came to be.

Flashback to college, some 4 to 5 years back. My friend and i had this brilliant idea of putting up our blog and write about all the shit & trouble we got ourselves into in college. We were gonna name it "The Misadventures of Claire and Pammy". All the planning sounded good. Unfortunately we were both lazy to write and upload (We did take a lot of pictures though).

Fast forward to 2008. I recalled the idea about the "misadventure blog" and told my officemate Via about it. Planning ensued, and like before, it never happened.

So now, it's all up to me. It's gonna be all about my misadventures. And i hope this time, i'll get to post more than just one entry.
